5G TECHNOLOGY AND THE CITY OF PENSACOLA

SUMMARY:
There has been much discussion regarding the 5G technology, installation and placement of small cell towers within taxpayer rights of way, possible health concerns and state mandated preemptions.
This discussion item will give City Council the opportunity to be updated on the policies and procedures currently being undertaken by the City as well as what opportunities there might be available to impact our State Legislature regarding preemptions currently impacting municipalities.
PRIOR ACTION:
September 10, 2020 - Presentation regarding 5G Technology.
Within the City’s 2020 Legislative Initiatives - Support for the recension of 2019 SB 1000 - 5G small cell towners, restoring balance of power to the City of Pensacola to determine installations in taxpayer owned right of way.
