The State of Florida, among other states, and almost 100 political subdivisions within Florida have filed suit against manufacturers and distributors of prescription opioids. Settlement negotiations have been ongoing between the States and those various manufacturers and distributors.
It is therefore the recommendation of the City Attorney that an attorney-client session be held for City Council and its attorneys to discuss settlement options in accordance with Section 286.011(8), Florida Statutes. In compliance with the statute requirements, reasonable public notice was given.
