ADJUSTING THREE CENSUS BLOCKS FROM DISTRICT 5 TO DISTRICT 4 WITHIN THE DISTRICTING COMMISSION’S PROPOSED PLAN

RECOMMENDATION:

recommendation

That the Districting Commission approve the transfer of three census blocks from District 5 to District 4 in order to align the proposed City redistricting line between Districts 4 and 5 with the approved County redistricting line between County Districts 3 and 4 thereby avoiding split precincts.

end

body

SUMMARY:

In order to avoid a split precinct between the City’s proposed districting plan and the County’s approved districting plan, the movement of three (3) census blocks needs to take place.  The movement will be from City District 5 to District 4 and moves 70 citizens.

This will properly align the City’s redistricting map to be in line with County’s thereby avoiding a split precinct.
