Renovation to an Accessory Dwelling Unit and Minor Changes to a Contributing Structure

end

BACKGROUND:

Tim Daniel is seeking approval to renovate and add to an accessory building and to make minor improvements to the rear of a contributing building. All of the proposed work will not be visible from the street. A Variance and a conceptual design for the accessory structure was approved in September 2021. This packet includes the following:

1.                     Accessory building renovations - The existing accessory dwelling unit will be extended, and portions rebuilt to match the existing roof line and style. All existing windows and doors will remain, and new windows and doors will match. The new items on the extension will include single-hung 3/3 traditional wood windows with simulated divided lites and wood French doors. New gray shingles will be added and new siding to the work areas will be smooth fiber cement. The building will then be painted “Lemon Meringue” with “Buckland Blue” trim to match the recently approved colors of the main house.

2.                     Replacement rear window - A new wood window will replace a second-floor glass block window on the rear of the main residence. The window will be single-hung 3/1 traditional wood windows with simulated divided lites.

3.                     Rear porch awning - A new retractable sunshade over the existing rear wood deck will be added. No other changes in this area are being proposed.
