Woodland Heights is located in the north central section of the City of Pensacola. The Woodland Heights area consists of 358.4 acres annexed into the City of Pensacola in two segments, the first in 1956 with the remainder in 1957. The neighborhood was platted as a traditional post-war subdivision in 1957 and became one of Pensacola’s first-ring suburbs. In 1996, the Woodland Heights Neighborhood Association was organized and has been actively involved in bringing residents together and working to improve the neighborhood. The Woodland Heights Neighborhood Association’s mission is to nurture connections for a fun and vibrant Woodland Heights where everyone belongs. Funding will be used to further their mission.
In 2004, a woman by the name of Ms. Colleen McDonough approached the City of Pensacola about issues in the neighborhood. While she thought she’d be organizing a neighborhood watch group, with support from the city, what became of it was much more. At the time, the City was urging areas to organize neighborhood associations to create a greater sense of community and government partnership. So, with that, the dream of a crime watch group grew to something much greater. And the East Hill Neighborhood Association was born and was the second to form within the City limits, following the long-standing North Hill Neighborhood. Today, a 15-member volunteer Board of Directors governs the Association and spearheads its great initiatives. From park improvements and planting trees to hosting movie nights and outdoor concerts, the association continues to help make East Hill a wonderful place to live, work and play. Funding will be used to continue providing improvements to the neighborhood as well as hosting various events.
Established in November 2001, the Northeast Neighborhood Association was created to provide beautification, awareness and safety of the neighborhood, particularly for children as well as maintaining property values within the neighborhood. Funding will be used towards various improvements and activities within the neighborhood.
