That City Council approve funding of $500 for Together We Weather from the City Council Discretionary Funds for District 7.

SUMMARY:

 

In accordance with the Section 3.28-3.33 of the Policies of the City Council, prior to any distribution of grant or sponsorship funds from the City Council Discretionary Funds, approval by City Council is required. 

 

Together We Weather is a local no-profit organization founded in 2017.  It’s mission is to improve the overall quality of life in underserved communities in Florida by educating them on health, finances and community building.  They host countless events to raise awareness to thousands in at risk communities in an effort to promote better health and overall wellbeing.  One of their events is Pensacola Happy Hour, which is an outdoor event featuring live music, DJs, comedians and more.  While there, patrons will have the opportunity to receive wellness screenings such as blood pressure, HIV, mammograms and Diabetes just to name a few.  The free event will be held every Friday from 5pm to 10pm and will be held at the Museum Plaza at 330 S. Jefferson Street.  Funding will be used to help cover the costs associated with the event.

 

PRIOR ACTION:                     

 

July 21, 2022 - City Council adopted Resolution No. 2022-065 establishing the City Council Discretionary Fund Policy

Budget:                     $  7,473                     District 7 Discretionary Funds

 

                     Actual:                      $     500                     Together We Weather

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

                     

A balance of $7,473 is currently within the District 7 Discretionary Fund Account.  Upon approval by City Council, a balance of $6,973 will remain in the District 7 Discretionary Fund Account.
