That City Council amend Section 3.04 of the City Council Rules and Procedures, Council Established Boards, by mandating yearly Ethics and Sunshine Law training, establish April 1st of each year as the date by which the training must be completed, require training within 30-days of appointment and create a reporting mechanism to ensure compliance.

SUMMARY:
In June of 2016 the City Council ratified its Rules and Procedures including the addition of Section 3.04, Council Established Boards. This section states in part, “…Board members shall be provided with annual ethics training conducted by a member of Council staff or the City Attorney’s Office.”
This amendment will do a number of things; it will include Sunshine Law training and mandate ethics and sunshine training for all Council established boards and board members. It will also establish April 1st deadline each year as the date by which the training must be completed, requires new appointees to have the training within 30-days of appointment and creates a reporting mechanism to ensure compliance.
