SUMMARY:
In accordance with Section 3.28-3.33 of the Policies of the City Council, prior to any distribution of grant or sponsorship funds from the City Council Discretionary Funds, approval by City Council is required.
Gallery Night Pensacola is a nonprofit organization with a dedicated goal of inspiring culture, engagement, and the practice of arts of all types in an entertaining event for all ages and walks of life. Their monthly events focus on specific themes, highlight featured artists, and recruit the best creators our area has to offer. On April 21, 2023 Gallery Night will host “Dancin’ in the Streets” , a Dance Competition open to performance groups of all ages. There will be two (2) categories: Youth and Adult/Mixed. Each category will have up to six groups competing for a cash prize. During the competition, each group will perform a 2-10 minute dance/movement performance for a panel of judges on the streets of Downtown Pensacola during Gallery Night between 6 and 9 PM. Funding will be used towards the April 21, 2023 Gallery Night event.
PRIOR ACTION:
July 21, 2022 - City Council adopted Resolution No. 2022-065 establishing the City Council Discretionary Fund Policy.
FUNDING:
Budget: $12,501 Current Balance District 5 Discretionary Funds
Actual: $ 1,000 Gallery Night Pensacola, Inc.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
A balance of $12,501 is currently within the District 5 Discretionary Fund Account. Upon approval by City Council, a balance of $11,501 will remain in the District 5 Discretionary Fund Account.
