The Honor HER Foundation is committed to providing meals, lodging, access to medical care and job placement services for identified women veterans who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless. Their vision is to provide shelter and restore hope, honor and dignity in every female veteran who seeks comfort, support and assistance through their programs. Funding will be used as a sponsorship to their All Services Ball to be held on November 10, 2023. The charity ball brings all branches of military, law enforcement and first responders for a public celebration honoring their commitment, duty and service while raising awareness of the needs of women veterans. A portion of the funds raised will go towards the Marine Corps Toys-for-Tots program and The Secret Place - who’s mission is to provide “A Safe Space of Refuge and Hope for Survivors of Human Trafficking.
The Gulf Coast Kids House is a children’s advocacy center serving Escambia County. As a children’s advocacy center, they combine all of the professionals and resources needed for the intervention, investigation of child abuse cases under one child-friendly facility. Child victims and their families also receive mental health counseling at their center. The goal of the Gulf Coast Kids House is to form a more collaborative response to child abuse cases so that they can improve case outcomes and minimize trauma to the children and families they serve. Funding will be used towards their general operations as well as a sponsorship for their Waiting To Be A Waitress fundraiser. This event is a one-act musical comedy dinner theatre written by Pensacola songwriter Ross Orenstein and California playwright Jerome Elliott Moskowitz. This special three-night only fundraiser will be held August 25, 26 and 27, 2023 at The Gordon, located at 306 N. DeVilliers Street.
The Magnolia/AME Zion Cemeteries, co-located at the 1200 block of North “A” Street, were established at the turn of the 20th century and serve as an important physical reflection of Pensacola’s African-American community from the early 1900s through the 1980s. The Historic Burial A.M.E. Zion Association assists in maintaining these historic cemeteries. Currently there is immediate work required on two grave sites that were heavily damaged by a fallen tree. Funding will be allocated to restoring these two sites.
