SUMMARY:
On July 26, 1990 the Americans with Disabilities Act was enshrined into law with the notion that Americans living with disabilities deserve to participate in society free from discrimination. The ADA sought to guarantee that shared places, from schools to workplace to stadiums to parks truly belong to everyone, regardless of physical or mental status.
The City of Pensacola has long been committed to the purpose of the ADA by removing barriers to parks, sidewalks, employment, recreation and all other government services.
This Resolution recognizes the milestone of 28 years of protections as well as recognizing those in Pensacola who have continually contributed to this effort.
