body
HEARING REQUIRED: No Hearing Required
SUMMARY:
The Escambia-Pensacola Human Relations Commission (EPHRC) was established in 1974 to provide the community with local assistance to review and resolve employment discrimination complaints, fair housing discrimination complaints, improve community relations and promote fair treatment and equal opportunity for all Escambia County citizens regardless of race, color, gender, religion, age, national origin or disability.
The City and County have entered into an Interlocal agreement for the governance, funding and powers of the EPHRC.
Within the Mayor’s FY19 proposed budget, the EPHRC is defunded with the funds being transferred to Fair Housing. The understanding is that the County is taking a similar action thereby removing the need for the EPHRC.
This resolution expresses Council’s support of the EPHRC, the desire for their continued funding and a reversal of the FY19 proposed budgetary plans.
