SUMMARY:

Currently, by Code, the Parks and Recreation Board is made up of nine (9) members; this amendment will reduce that number to seven (7), and provide a mechanism for direct appointment to the Board by each Council Member.

With approval of this Ordinance, in March of 2019, Council members of Districts 3, 5, 6 and 7 will nominate a member to the parks and recreation board, subject to ratification by the Council.  Upon the expiration of the current term of the remaining three (3) members of the board, the Council members from Districts 1, 2 and 4 will make appointments, respectively, subject to Council ratification.

District 3 will appoint to an unexpired term expiring 3/31/2020.

District 5 will appoint to a 3-year term expiring 3/31/2022 - currently held by Maranda Sword

District 6 will appoint to a 3-year term expiring 3/31/2022 - currently held by Ed Wonders

District 7 will appoint to an unexpired term expiring 3/31/2021.

The unexpired terms are the result of resignations from the Board.
