That City Council approve the renaming of the Armstrong Park Tennis Courts in honor of Ronald P. Townsend, former District 7 City Council Member.

SUMMARY:
Mr. Townsend was appointed as a City Council Member for District 7 on May 20, 2002 and was subsequently elected as a City Council Member for District 7, where he served until November 27, 2012.
Mr. Townsend was instrumental in having the tennis courts at Armstrong Park built to provide the youth in the community a place to play tennis.
Naming after a living person requires the passage of a certain amount of time before a renaming/naming can occur; that adequate amount of time has passed.
This request is being made from a Council Member, therefore funding will likely come from Council or discretionary funds.
PRIOR ACTION:
July 16, 2020 - Parks and Recreation Board approved the naming of the Armstrong Park Tennis Courts after Ronald P. Townsend.
