SUMMARY:
“Sidewalks a Civil Right” presents an opportunity for public officials and the public to understand how people with disabilities achieve independence and empowerment by using sidewalks as a tool to access essential life services, recreation, and freedom. The PowerPoint discusses the various laws, court cases, and US Justice Department settlements that have firmly established that access to barrier free sidewalks is a right and not a privilege that must be upheld by local and state governments.
