ATTORNEY-CLIENT PRIVATE SESSION TO DISCUSS PENDING LITIGATION IN THE CASE OF IN RE: NATIONAL PRESCRIPTION OPIATE LITIGATION, MDL NO. 2804 (N.D. OHIO)

SUMMARY:
The City of Pensacola joined the Opioid Litigation in 2017. The State of Florida, among other states, and almost 100 political subdivisions within Florida have filed suit against manufacturers and distributors of prescription opioids. Settlement negotiations have been ongoing between the States and those various manufacturers and distributors.
It is therefore the recommendation of the Assistant City Attorney that an attorney-client session be scheduled for City Council and its attorneys to discuss settlement options in accordance with Section 286.011(8), Florida Statutes. In compliance with the statute requirements, reasonable public notice was given.
This will be a private meeting with Council’s attorneys to discuss this pending litigation.
