SUMMARY:
The City of Pensacola joined the Opioid Litigation in 2017. The State of Florida, among other states, and almost 100 political subdivisions within Florida have filed suit against manufacturers and distributors of prescription opioids. Settlement negotiations have been ongoing between the States and those various manufacturers and distributors.
Council is being asked to take action to accept or reject a settlement plan that has been offered by an adverse party. A master ballot will be cast on behalf of the parties, to include the City. The City must either abstain, vote yes, or vote no on the issue.
PRIOR ACTION:
June 20, 2021 - An Attorney-Client Private Session was held to discuss the pending litigation.
