SUMMARY:
The City of Pensacola’s adopted Westside and Urban Core Community Redevelopment Plans identify Garden Street as a principal corridor for improvement. In 2018, the CRA applied for and was awarded a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Landscape Beautification Grant to make landscape improvements in the median of West Garden Street from Alcaniz Street to A Street. Design for that project has recently been completed, and it is anticipated that bidding for construction will ensue in the Fall.
Staff has prepared an additional application to FDOT for grant funds to beautify and continue the enhancement of Garden Street westward. Improvement will be targeted for A Street to C Street, with actual boundaries determined based on cost. Subsequent applications may also be submitted for future grant cycles to continue the improvements.
